Wells Fargo? Hell NO! E. Palo Alto Residents Get Angry
Two videos from the rally today in front of Wells Fargo Bank. 0:41 and 0:45
During today's rally representatives of local organizations supporting tenants delivered a letter of demands to Wells Fargo bank. Outside the bank, protesters shouted their demands, and expressed their anger.
Tenants and activists say they are shocked that Wells Fargo, which claims to respect the community, would choose to sell a giant East Palo Alto rent controlled apartment complex to a vulture capitalist. Protesters outside the Wells Fargo Palo Alto branch demanded that Wells should back out of the tentative deal they are considering with one big buyer, Sam Zell. In chants and statements they said the bank should re-engage with the community to find responsible buyers with plans to preserve East Palo Alto's rent-controlled housing.
