The ABAiR (Arts Benicia Artist in Residence Program) is a unique amalgam of an interactive installation process and art exhibition. Arts Benicia has provided three artists, Claudia Chapline, Theresa Muñoz and Thomas Stanton, with an opportunity to create site specific installations in a 2,000 square foot space over a period of three weeks. Their three respective installations share the Arts Benicia gallery, addressing themes of local history and community, LGBT issues and the sonic qualities of the space.

To conclude the run of the exhibit, an artist talk will be held on August 11th from 7:00-9:00 as a part of the smARTE (small art event) series. The evening will begin with a presentation on current Bay Area artists and exhibits, followed by an artist talk where Chapline, Muñoz and Stanton will discuss their respective processes and installations for the ABAiR project. The artist talk will be followed by a live DJ and dancing into the night!

The ABAiR Project has been generously sponsored by Olson Realty, Inc.

Arts Benicia, a non-profit visual arts organization, gallery and arts education center, is located at 991 Tyler St., #114 in Benicia’s historic Arsenal district. The gallery is open from 12 to 5 Thursday through Sunday.
