The program this year will include an interview with Jack Dairiki, a Hibakusha (atomic bomb survivor) currently living in San Francisco. In light of the ongoing nuclear crisis in Japan, his testimony is even more relevant.
The program will also feature a performance of "Sadako and the Thousand Cranes" by the Crane Culture Theater. The troupe, founded ten years ago by Bruce Forman incorporate puppets, masks, Butoh dance and live music to provide an engaging and family-friendly retelling of the familiar story.
Family oriented program commemorates the bombings of Hiroshima/Nagasaki; features a survivor, drama, poetry, music. Free/donations. Info http://www.AugustPeaceEvent.org or 916-536-9956.
