Crops & gardens, yes! Animals & backyard slaughter, no!
The City of Oakland’s Planning Department is hosting a community workshop to gather feedback about proposed changes to Oakland’s food policy. So far the Planning Department has refused to separate plant-based agriculture from animal-agriculture, despite the urging of Planning Commissioner Colbruno and our community group and many others.
Please go to the community workshop to show your support of a food policy change that will allow people to grow crops — the real solution to food insecurity. But also tell the Planning Department loud and clear that urban animal farms harm neighbors communities and and animals alike.
