In the post Peak Oil world when communities are all "educated up" and live and work locally, find happiness without fossil-fuel induced consumption, are neighborly enough to endure together the shifting climate and food production patterns, the question of who controls the land itself will remain, just as that question stood before fossil fuel reigned king. Were those pre-petrol days better in a social sense? Were kings and feudalism and Thomas Jefferson's yeoman farmer westward colonialism better than mortgage interest, or visa-versa?

Come along on a walking tour that asks, "What does all this Transition Town prep work mean if land tenure patterns continue on as before the fall of carbon fuel (the winter of our disconnect)?"

It's a walk through 160 years of San Francisco social movement history that Transition Town activists will get a charge from.

What's more, coming along on this walk qualifies you to enter the monthly $500 Commons writing competition!
