Pelican Bay Security Housing Unit prisoners' hunger strike has spread to at least 13 prisons in California, and more than 6600 prisoners have taken part in it in solidarity. The prisoners are saying that an indefinite SHU confinement is cruel and unusual, and amounts to a death sentence. They are determined to give meaning to their death, by making a statement with it, hoping that their death will help others not to have to go throughout the hell they are in. Urszula Wislanka of the California Coalition for Women Prisoners and a participant in Hunger Strike Support Committee will open the forum with a discussion of the prisoners' demands and a perspective on the history, meaning and future of this movement.

Come, show your solidarity, discuss the issues, get involved in support activities...
