The Myth of America’s Founding as a Christian Nation
Leigh Johnson PhD Lecture is entitled, “Religion, the American Revolution, and the Founding Generation.”
This presentation challenges popular understandings that the United States was founded as a Christian nation. The analisis of the relationship between religion, colonial society and government. It also examines the political and legal background to ratification of the U.S. Constitution.
Leigh Johnson has a doctorate in early American history, his dissertation focused on religion and society in early New England during the American Revolution. He is also a Christian, so please refrain from engaging in religious arguments. Free
