Rally and Speak Out
Date:Tues June 21, 2011
Place: S.F. City Hall, Polk St side
Time: 12:30pm to 2pm , before the SFMTA Meeting
We are fed up. We want respect, health & safety for ourselves and for our passengers.
We want true collective bargaining without a gun to our head.
Ø Operators protest MTA plans to dismantle MUNI as a public service.
Ø Operators are protesting the health and safety emergency at SF Muni.
Ø The MTA imposed a Mou which destroys our livelihood & cuts service.
Operators are joining the Taxi Cab Drivers. They are organizing a strike and rally against the MTA.
Ø The MTA imposes regulations on Cab drivers which destroy their livelihood.
MUNI management puts safety, safe equipment, & schedules on the back seat of the bus to balance the Budget.
Ø Unsafe equipment leaves the yard every day.
Ø This MOU allows MUNI management to blame drivers for Management’s failures.
Ø The MTA is cutting service, raising fares and endangering the passenger safety.
Ø Full time jobs mean full time service. Part-time jobs are a service cut to mid-day service.
REVENUE IS THE PROBLEM AT THE MTA,
NOT OPERATORS OR CABBIES
Ø The MTA has a revenue problem caused by Big Business which is concentrated in the SF Downtown Area & Mission Bay Development. They do not pay their fare share in taxes and transit fees but they receive great benefit from the service.
Ø MTA is attacking the cab drivers for the same reason as they attack the MUNI operators & City workers. The MTA is set up to pass costs onto the individual cabbie rather than make the Big Corporations pay taxes and fees.
Ø Don’t balance the budget of the backs of Drivers, City Workers, Riders or Cabbies.
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS “SHARED” SACRIFICE”-THEY TAKE IT ALL!
HOW MANY OPERATORS GET FIRED AND LEAVE WITH $384,000
