Brian Willson is a prominent anti-war activist and one of the first members of Veterans for Peace. In 1987, while engaged in a protest of U.S. weapons to Central America, Willson and other members of a Veterans Peace Action Team blocked railroad tracks at the Concord, California Naval Weapons Station. An approaching train did not stop, and struck the veterans. Willson was hit, ultimately losing both legs below the knee and suffering a severe skull fracture with loss of his right frontal lobe. He is currently cycling from Portland to the Bay Area on an arm-powered handcycle. He plans to cycle from Seattle to Portland for the start of the Veterans for Peace convention in August.

His political memoir, Blood on the Tracks: The Life and Times of S. Brian Willson, is due to be released mid-June. Books will be available for sale and signing.
