At 6:00, we will show Pt. 1, "Coolies, Sailors, & Settler: Voyage to the New World", the story of how Asians-Filipinos, Chinese, Asian Indians-first arrived in the Americas, crossing countries and oceans, from the 16th century Manila-Acapulco trade, and the Opium Wars, to the 19th century plantation coolie labor in South America and the Caribbean. At 7:30, we’ll screen Part 2: "Chinese in the Frontier West: An American Story-", the story of Chinese in the Gold Rush California of the 1850s and their ventures into the Frontier West from Oregon to South Dakota.
