Tree- Sitter released after 67 days in Jail

by Zachary RunningWolf (runningwolf.zachary [at] yahoo.com)
Muwekma (Peoples) Park tree-sitter Matt Dodt after spending 67 days in jail was released after being Kidnapped/arrested by UCPD (UCB) for protecting Berkeley's Peoples Park. This occasion marks 41 years of resistance against UC Greed-gents. Matt Dodt originally charged with the ridiculous charge of Attempted Murder with no victim was dropped to assualt with a Deadly Weapon only to be throw out with no victim (witness). Matt Dodt faces four misdemeanors which include 2 laser pointer charges, lodging and trespassing on a public university, sounds surreal or Orwellian.
Matt Dodt originally charged with the ridiculous allegation of Attempted Murder with no victim was dropped to assualt with a Deadly Weapon only to be throw out of court when the alleged victim failed to come forward. Matt Dodt faces four misdemeanors which include 2 laser pointer charges, lodging and trespassing on a public university, sounds surreal and or Orwellian. Finally to look back on the violation of a Tree warrior who got 67 days robbed from him but also the UCB got away with stealing all of the Tree peoples gear (ropes, caribeeners, harnesses, and other equipment) refusing to give back after Matt Dodt has been exonerated. The Park is still in danger especially when the students take a summer break. We hope that th community is more supportive so another Tree warrior does not have to pay the price Matt Dodt did.
