Every year, instead of giving their taxes to Uncle Sam to spend on war, many war tax resisters instead give their money to alternative funds that then distribute funds to worthier causes.

This year, the Bay Area's alternative fund -- the People's Life Fund -- will be holding its granting ceremony, at which it gives away money to local groups, in conjunction with the National War Tax Resistance Coordinating Committee's national gathering in Oakland.

In addition, famous anarchist lawyer and twice-imprisoned war tax resister J. Tony Serra will speak on his experience with war tax resistance and with a lifetime of fighting for justice.

Come by to see the ceremony, hear about the work of local groups doing good, mingle with war tax resisters of all stripes, hear Tony Serra speak, and enjoy musical entertainment from Francisco Herrera.
