Clarence Thomas, ILWU Local 10, on KPFA Morning Mix, April 5, 2011
Clarence Thomas, ILWU Local 10, on KPFA's Morning Mix, after dock workers shut down ports of Oakland and San Francisco, protesting union busting legislation in Wisconsin and other states.
Listen now:
Clarence Thomas, executive board member of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) Local 10, spoke on KPFA's Morning Mix, on April 5, 2011, the day after dock workers of ILWU Locals 10, 34, and 91 shut down the ports of Oakland and San Francisco, protesting union busting legislation in Wisconsin and other states.
Oakland teachers shut down the downtown Wells Fargo Bank, and workers took to the streets nationwide. April 4 also marked the 43rd anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s assassination after he joined a picket line of sanitation workers in Memphis. He had been an honorary member of ILWU Local 10.
Brother Clarence talked about the divisiveness of the term "middle class", the lack of shared interests between the working class and the Democratic Party, and the need for working people to take coordinated action at the point of production.

I'm glad that Brother Clarence Thomas didn't buy into the Phony '' Labor vs Management '' narrative and rejected their mostly unsuccessful ''boycott''of the Morning Mix.
Ain't no ''Union busting '' going on at KPFA . Just a small clique that think they own our station .
