Only the criminally insane support nuclear power, and that includes both the labor lieutenants of capitalism commonly known as the "leadership" of the AFL-CIO as well as others, such as, sad to say, the World Socialist Website, which otherwise has lots of good things to say, including being critical of the labor lieutenants of capitalism. There is no safe level of radiation and the excuses for supporting nuclear power since 1945 are all criminally insane. It was also insane before 1945 and everyone who participated in developing nuclear weapons should be ashamed of themselves. Nuclear power and nuclear weapons should be banned from the earth today. Nuclear power and nuclear weapons facilities are all centers of high rates of cancer in the surrounding communities and nuclear power is a threat to all our lives and to the earth. Our oceans and air are now being poisoned by the disaster at Fukushima and that disaster could happen anywhere as the cause was a power outtage. Earthquakes and tsunamis are not the only things that cause power outtages. There are viable options to nuclear, oil and coal. They are solar, wind and tidal power, all available on a mass scale now.
