Date:
Tuesday, April 26, 2011
Time:
11:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Event Type:
Protest
Organizer/Author:
Raging Grannies
Email:
Location Details:
Plaza in front of Cafe Borrone near Kepler's Books,
1010 El Camino Real, MENLO PARK, CA 94025 (between Ravenswood and Santa Cruz Ave.)

Join the Raging Grannies to say NO MORE Nukes Now! The nuclear plant Diablo Canyon, only 170 miles from Menlo Park, is in a geographic area riddled with earthquake faults. We are holding our demo in Menlo Park because it is home to the USGS Science Facility. Grannies say: listen to the real scientists and their peer-reviewed literature.. and NOT to PG&E's hokey data! (PG&E owns the nuclear facility and its motive is PROFIT not safety.)

The Grannies will perform street theater called: "New Trends in Nuclear Radiation Wear for SF Bay Area Fashionistas" with a catwalk of "nuclear radiation protection wear". Bottom line is: it doesn't protect anything!

Sport you own nuclear suit, join the Grannies in floppy flowery hats, or come as yourself. All are welcome!

Some signs and materials provided. Bring you own if you can. Demo location is on a busy street and sees a big lunch crowd in the plaza too.

Grannies will bring signs in Japanese and English, as we are in solidarity with our counterparts in Japan. See photo for some of our signs and costumes.

Supporting organizations invited to contact us at info [@] raginggrannies.com to join in this team effort.
