We will show the film At the River I Stand about the 1968 Memphis sanitation workers' strike and the assassination of Martin Luther King. Then we will have a panel discussion with workers from Bay Area unions who are organizing actions on April 4th. Unions across the country have called for April 4 to be a national day of action called We Are One where we will stand in solidarity with workers in Wisconsin and everywhere who are fighting for the rights King gave his life for – the right to bargain collectively and work for a better life! Students around the country are standing in solidarity with workers and linking their struggle with the fight for social services.

One of the most hopeful things i heard coming out of Wisconsin was a Labor Council voting to begin to prepare for a General strike if that reactionary bill was passed . Well that foul item did go thru but what happened to that righteous decision ? Has it all been forgotten in order to launch a re call of the worst Republicans ?
And what happened to the SF Labor council resolution that called for possible one day walkouts ?
