Early signs that contamination from the nuclear disaster in Japan include the following.

Officials measured high radiation levels in spinach and milk from farms in Fukushima...the measurement exceeds government safety limits for human consumption.

Small amounts of radioactive iodine were found in tap water in Tokyo and other parts of Japan.
