Bring Our War $$ Home
Peace Fresno organized a demonstration to commemorate the start of the US war against Iraq. Over 100 people showed up to protest the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. They were there to demand that the money being used for war be converted to peaceful purposes - like health care, schools, and affordable housing.
“Bring Our War $$ Home” was the theme for a demonstration held today (Saturday, March 19) in Fresno. Over 100 people turned out on the sidewalk in front of River Park (where there is no river or park), a large mall in North Fresno. Protestors said that their tax dollars, which could be used to make life better, are being used for one of mankind’s most horrific inventions – war.
California tax payers spent $1.5 Billion for war spending in 2010. The cost of war to U.S. residents since 2001 is $4000 per person (babies included). This demonstration was held on the eight anniversary of the war on Iraq and was organized by Peace Fresno
Peace Fresno is a local peace and social justice organization working to end the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the drone attacks in Pakistan.
