On the 100th anniversary of the Triangle Shirtwaist fire which inspired International Women's Day:
*Women in revolution*
*What can we learn from Egypt?*
From the textile strikes at Mahalla al-Kubra that began in 2006 and reemerged this year to the massive popular outpourings and self-organization in Tahrir Square, women have brought a new dimension to the revolution that overthrew Hosni Mubarak's 30 year dictatorship in Egypt.
Women's struggle for human dignity and self-determination continues as Egyptian masses face the army, now calling for them to leave Tahrir Square and abandon their power to determine their future beyond political freedom. Does Marx's concept of revolution in permanence—realizing freedom in everyday life, in the workplace and especially that most fundamental man/woman relation—help bring out the meaning of this new moment of women in revolution?
Let's show our solidarity with Egypt and discuss the implications of these events for all women and everyone interested in a new, human society
