Please join us to welcome Leila Haddad, 'Gaza Mom', as part of her West Coast book tour. In addition to speaking about her book: 'Gaza Mom: Palestine, Politics, Parenting, and Everything In Between', Leila will also be speaking about and leading a discussion on the Egyptian revolution, and its effects on Gaza in particular and Palestine in general.
Laila's book, 'Gaza Mom: Palestine, Politics, Parenting, and Everything In Between' El-Haddad takes us into the life and world of a busy Palestinian journalist who is both covering the story of Gaza and living it—very intensely. This book is El-Haddad’s self-curated choice of the best of her writings from December 2004 through July 2010.
Leila Haddad is a talented blogger, political analyst, social activist, and parent-of-two from Gaza. She earned a B.A. from Duke University and MPP from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. She and her two young children spend as much time in Gaza as they can– her spouse, a Palestinian physician who grew up in a refugee camp in Lebanon, is not allowed by Israel to enter Gaza. He’s an assistant professor of ophthalmology at Johns Hopkins Medical School, so El-Haddad and their children spend much of their time with him in Maryland.
$5-10 donation requested to assist with travel funds, no one turned away for lack of funds
