Attempted Murder in the Park?
It's UC Berkeley Police Chief Mitch "Mad Dog" Celaya in brief conversation regarding... murder, murder most foul. Or attempted murder most foul. Or assault. Something... it's about something. Mitch says it happens "often"; people in Berkeley get accused of attempted murder "often". That's just how it goes; you can even look it up in the newspapers I guess. Who knows.
TRANSCRIPT:
Q: So is it still attempted murder, or did that get dropped?
CELAYA: I believe its assault with a deadly weapon. You speak of Mister Dodt? (Matt Dodt, the Tree Sitter in People's Park - Muwekma Park - that was arrested after his tree was raided by a gang of drug dealers that plague the Park, followed by UC police themselves)
Q: Because that was... attempted murder, to just suddenly vanish... that couldn't have been a mistake or an accident right?
CELAYA: I don't think it vanished.
Q: Oh, it didn't drop?
CELAYA: I think you need to learn the criminal justice system. I think they evaluated what the information was an reclassified it, which happens all the time.
Q: But attempted murder...
CELAYA: Thank you.
Q: Does that happen a lot where people are accused of attempted murder and it just sort of disappears? In your experience as the UC Berkeley Police Chief, doesn't it happen a lot.. where you put out a press release...
CELAYA: It happens often...
Q; Actually it happens often? So I can go to the newspapers [online websites] and search "Berkeley attempted murder"...
CELAYA: Why don't you do that. Thank you.
