Registration announced Winter 2011 session of the Urban PDC in San Francisco. Course begins on Jan. 12th.

We offer an extended PDC which is built upon the traditional PDC taught globally. We add urban specific content that is both focused on San Francisco and can also be applied to any urban setting.

We have two urban projects with which to interact. We have a demonstration garden in Potrero Hill that has undergone a soil-transformation by receiving an extremely deep sheet-mulch (up to 4 feet deep in some places). There are over 70 fruit and nut trees on just 5,000 square feet and this little garden is working to set the bar for dense SF gardens.

Our second site of interest is the Hayes Valley Farm which just began this Winter and is transforming the old Central Freeway in the heart of SF into a productive site and education center. Join us in exploring all the exciting opportunities.

Every PDC has a group project and we have a great selection of projects to pick from or you can bring your own ideas. Some of the projects include the sites above and many other potential project sites in the city. We teach you how to identify and get these projects going, and once your done with the class, the class design you made can be put into action.

The course begins on Jan. 12th and runs on Wednesday evenings 6:30pm-9:30pm and Saturdays all day from 9am-5pm. This schedule is designed to fit into a busy urban work/school schedule while still leaving some time for you life on the weekend.
