JUAREZ: The Definitive Neoliberal City
Veronica Leyva, a grassroots organizer from Juarez, will discuss the war on drugs and militarization of the border, gender violence and femicide, the Merida Initiative, and NAFTA and neoliberalism.
Veronica spent ten years working in the maquiladora industry and has been organizing in her community for fifteen years conducting workshops on worker’s and women’s rights as well as participating in the struggle for justice for the victims of the femicides in Ciudad Juarez. Veronica has worked with various organizations in civil society struggling to change the overall living conditions in her community.
Her visit is sponsored by the Mexico Solidarity Network and the Task Force on the Americas. A $5-10 donation is requested. For more information call 415/924-3227.
