You're invited to the 17th Annual Peace & Unity March. After the tragic murders of 9 year-old Jessica Cortes and her 16 year-old brother Jorge, the P & U march was the first event organized by the Watsonville Brown Berets. Both these young people were killed in a gang retaliation between Norteño and Sureño warring factions.
Over the coarse of years many more community members have died in similar tragedies. The Watsonville Brown Berets along with many community organizations and families have organized this march to demand an end to violence.
This historical march starts at the Watsonville Plaza and is led by the White Hawk Danza Azteca. The march makes stops at both Norteño and Sureño known barrios in order to perform ceremonies and remembrances. We need your support, please join us.
