Join us at the Bissap Baobab for our 1 year celebration dinner with special guest Tom Brown, our Timebank software developer from Austin Time Exchange (and other Timebank volunteers).
The Bissap Baobab has generously offered to donate part of their profits from dinners for the evening to the Bay Area Community Exchange (BACE) Timebank. So bring a friend or 3 and enjoy their delicious traditional Senegalese food (with meat, fish and vegetarian/vegan options) and artisan cocktails using homemade hibiscus, tamarind and ginger juices.
The BACE Timebank is a free online directory and reputation system that facilitates a community of people helping people. The Timebank gives people equal hour credits for providing services to others and volunteering at local nonprofits, which they can then use to get services for themselves.
You don’t need money to join, just time to contribute. In fact, if you don’t have much money, the Timebank can help you stretch your wallet further by providing services that you might normally pay a lot for like plumbing, computer repair, childcare and massage. The Timebank also helps community nonprofits do their work by rewarding volunteers for their time. By facilitating abundant, relationship-oriented exchanges, the Timebank hopes to create a community of greater trust and local, sustainable interdependence.
