World Homeless Day/Empty Building Occupation
World Homeless Day culminates into building take-over in Tenderloin neighborhood in San Francisco.
While thousands of housing units in in San Francisco sit vacant, thousands of people sleep and or die on the streets in San Francisco.
On October 10, 2010, a group called the Creative Housing Liberation organized a rally and march to honor World Homeless Day, which culminated into a housing take-over in the Tenderloin neighborhood in San Francisco. The empty building has sat vacant for two years, and according to many the shelter system in San Francisco is lacking beds, and many of the shelters are not safe nor clean. The building that was occupied was clean and seemed to be in good shape.
