Political Prisoner, Writer and Activist Marilyn Buck died in August, just a few weeks after her release from prison. Both inside and out, she fought tirelessly for racial and global justice and against heteropatriarchy. She was a talented poet and a cherished friend to many here in the Bay Area and around the world.
At this memorial, we will hear from some of the people closest to Marilyn, see video and hear her own voice, eat and laugh in her memory and rededicate ourselves to the struggles for justice which were the center of her life.

I would like to attend this memorial . I think .My hestiation isn't based on any lack of respect for her commitment to Social Justice . It was criminal that she was only released shortly before her death .
If she had been freed earlier perhaps her life could have been saved, with all the huge weaknesses of the for profit US Medical system on the ''Outside'' it's still far better than the miserable care offered Prisoners .
But i don't support the Political direction she took . I have no idea whether she actually helped groups like the BLA and others but there's no doubt she was in idelogical agreement with them .The strategy of '' Urban Guerrila warfare '' in the US , a country that is so politically backward that it doesn't even have a reformist Labor or other Social Democratic party , is so insane that it defies belief .
So I and others would like to attend if those of us who respect her sacrifice but not the direction her idelogy would be welcome . Any comments or information ?
