Assemblymember Bill Monning will host an artist reception for local photographer Bob Fitch, whose work is being featured in the Santa Cruz and Sacramento Assembly offices throughout the fall. The reception will include a slide presentation of Bob Fitch’s photographs and viewing of his prints. Refreshments will be provided. Bob Fitch was the personal photographer for Dr. Martin Luther King, and captured intimate portraits of the civil rights leader at home and in public. Bob Fitch’s credits also include the image of UFW leader Cesar Chavez which was used for the US postage stamp created in his honor. Bob Fitch is a long-time labor activist and documentarian who has had a front-row seat to some of the most stirring moments in the long struggle for social justice in America. His work has been featured in the Smithsonian and in other major exhibits documenting the civil rights movement.
