San Rafael Action against Big Oil's Prop. 23
On September 5th, 40 people demonstrated in San Rafael against Prop. 23—Big Oil's "right to pollute," in front of Whole Foods on 3rd street. This showed that there are two things Californians really, really don’t like: corporations influencing American politics, and corporations ruining the environment. This fall, Valero and Tesoro are trying to do both.
So far, Valero by itself has spent over 7 million dollars to support Proposition 23. This ballot—if passed in November—will effectively repeal California’s “Global Warming Solutions Act” (AB 32) of 2006.
People in Marin County aren’t standing for it.
