S.C. Weekly Writer Curtis Cartier Discusses Peacecamp2010

Date:
Monday, August 23, 2010
Time:
5:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Event Type:
Speaker
Organizer/Author:
Robert Norse
Location Details:
Penny University at its weekly Monday 5 PM session--located in the south end of the Community Room at the Calvary Episcopal Church on Lincoln St. between Cedar and Center Streets.

Attorney and activist Ed Frey, who helped found Peacecamp2010, now currently sleeping each night outside City Hall and meeting every evening at 8:15 p.m. there, made an announcement at last night's meeting.

Peacecamp2010 is an ongoing homeless protest that seeks an end to the City's 11 PM to 8:30 AM Sleeping Ban and amnesty for past tickets. Many other stories on this website document its trials and tribulations. More up-to-date information can also be found at http://www.peacecamp2010.blogspot.com/ .

Frey told us that Santa Cruz Weekly writer Curtis Cartier will be speaking today on a subject he's been researching for publication in Wednesday's Weekly--Peacecamp2010 and the homeless situation.

I understand Penny University is free and open to the public.

There is also a free meal next door for those under 30 who are hungry as part of the church's youth ministry. No age documentation is usually requested or required.
