The intention for this class is to create community while facilitating personal growth and insight, helping us to look at experiences that not everyone encounters and to embrace our differences, discover our commonalities, to clarify needs in a more empowered way, and to ultimately get past the assumptions of identity. Much like the LGBT pride movement has created a queer space for celebrating a rainbow of different sexualities, genders and races, we seek to create a container for celebrating and mourning our queer experiences through the Nonviolent Communication model that helps us to recognize, understand, and move beyond internal and the social constructs toward sweeter, more alive connections with ourselves and others with greater authenticity, love and openness.
• How "out" are we---around sexuality and all of who we are
• Claiming our full authenticity and power
• Transforming enemy images within and around us regarding homosexuality, heterosexuality and gender expression
• Deepening trust within ourselves, with our allies and our queer community
