Racism and the U.S. criminal justice system

The U.S. criminal justice system is a racist institution where African Americans, Latinos, Native and other people of color are directly targeted and punished. Statistics chronicle each step of the criminal justice system-from the use of drugs, police stops, arrests, getting out on bail, legal representation, jury selection, trial, sentencing, prison, parole and freedom. Undoubtedly, the overwhelming majority of people are also poor.

Examine the reality of today's prison system and ways to dismantle it and provide safety for our communities.

Remembering the 1965 Watts Rebellion
The five day revolt served as stark testimony to the racist inequality and poverty that dominated the lives of Watts' residents. Many battled the LAPD that they held immediately responsible for their poverty and alienation. Discover the history and what was to be gained from this people's uprising.

El sistema criminal jurídico de los EE.UU. es una institución racista donde afro-americanos, latinos, nativos y otros pueblos de color son castigados directamente. Estadísticas muestran cada paso del sistema criminal jurídico- desde el uso de drogas, paradas policiacas, arrestos, libertad bajo fianza, representación legal, selección del jurado, juicio, sentencias, prisión, libertad bajo palabra, y libertad. Sin duda, la enorme mayoría del la gente también son pobres.

Examina la realidad de sistema actual de prisiones y maneras para desmantelarlas y proporcionar la seguridad a nuestra comunidad.

Recordando la Rebelión Watts de 1965
La rebeldía de cinco días sirvió como un testimonio resaltante de la desigualdad racista y la pobreza que dominaba a las vidas de los residentes de Watts. Muchos lucharon contra la policía de Los Ángeles que culpaban directamente por su pobreza y discriminación. Descubre la historia y lo que fue obtenido gracias a que esta gente se levantó.
