Pro-Mehserle Rally: The Cops and Supporters
Pictures of Pro-Mehserle Rally: The Cops and Supporters

The whole pro-Mehserle rally reminded me of a lynch mob or a rally against civil rights in a small southern town in the early 1960s. There were about twice as many counter-protesters (for Oscar Grant) as there were supporters of police murder (not counting those in uniform being paid).

I'm assuming that most of these women are not cops themselves
put those cops and thjeir supporters on another world, not our beautiful earth!
LOL Look at all the white people supporting their cop in Walnut Creek cause their too fucking scared to come to Oakland or ANYWHERE else in the East Bay for that matter.
Tea Partiers too?
Tea Partiers too?
The comments from the public on the Facebook page of KRON4 on this protest say it all -- some of them are over the top racist (some have now been removed). It's sickening. These people would never be out there or doing anything if Mehserle were black, not in a million years.

So Grant's money grubbing "family" raised another non original, stereotypical ,text book thug who was drunk in public, fighting, disrupting the peace and he gets shot by a cop who wouldnt have been there in the fist place had Grant acted like a civilized person and the Law Enforcement community is considered evil? Come on people the Grant family is equally to blame for raising such a troublemaker as Mehserhle is for having an itchy trigger finger.

i hate to say this but i agree with Nick above me.. try to look at the bigger picture here.. sure a cop made a big mistake and should have to pay for it, but if people were not acting the fool that night it would have never happened.. i know cops need better training but so do the citizens of oakland on how to act like humans and not animals.

We need to support are cops. The black race needs to pull up there boot straps and get it together. STOP blamming someone else for the changes u need to make within your race..

Black Vs. White! Nuts! Listen to the new Black Panthers speak lately? Wish I was Black so I could use hate speech and violence more often!

@Mr. Nash: If my son was with a group who were drunkenly terrorizing a bunch of passengers like bullying thugs, resisted arrest and was accidentally shot by an officer who went for his tazer, I would be humiliated by his behavior. My children were not raised like that. All of my sons are high school graduates and one has a college degree. But ... See Moreto respond, I would sue the BART, then the makers of the tazer which has been responsible for multiple accidental shootings. Period. It does not mean that I would be any less devastated by the tragic loss of my son, but I'm educated and logical.

thats just in case you didnt already know...... tragic accident, Mehserle is going to do time. deal with it..... grant was a thug who started problems on the train, was drunk, disobeying orders of a Police Officer........ hmmmm let me think bout this.... innocent+ not causing problems= no police getting called on me....... or.... starting fights+drunk in public= police getting called.....

The rally on behalf of Mehserle seemed to be conveying the message that it's wrong to think of cops killing black people as ill intentioned -- murder, harassment, arrests, beatings... is what black people deserve, and it's up to police officers like Mehserle to make sure of it.
Notice that this action was held all the way out in Wall Nut Creek, and was still outnumbered 2 to 1 by counter demonstrators. I don't think such an action could have been held somewhere like Oakland or San Francisco.
