BAY AREA Iraq Veterans Against the War burn the flag day.

by Robin Long, Eddie Falcon
The flag is a symbol of our unity and the blood sweat tears of those that came before us. The flag also has a purpose, some times it is a beacon or a message a warning that something is wrong. video 1min 32sec

The flag is a symbol of our unity and the blood sweat tears of those that came before us. The flag also has a purpose, some times it is a beacon or a message a warning that something is wrong. We burnt the flag to be a strong visual representation of our protest to the unjust war on terror that cannot be won. This flag represents us as a people. The flag is on the arms of every uniform on every soldier fighting in your name. If you accept that nothing is wrong you condone the atrocities that are occurring. So get angry, we are trying to wake you up.

"I believe in adequate defense at the coastline and nothing else. If a nation comes over here to fight, then we'll fight. The trouble with America is that when the dollar only earns 6 percent over here, then it gets restless and goes overseas to get 100 percent. Then the flag follows the dollar and the soldiers follow the flag." MAJ General Smedley Butler

While millions across the United States of America celebrate freedom (for some), Gerald Sanders and friends outside of a West Oakland party burned a flag to send the statement that many are still waiting to reclaim true freedom.

Some folks over at google, facebook, and elsewhere have called for a Sept 12 Burn A Confederate Flag Day.

As they've put it "Burn the Confederate Flag Day is a protest against the right's exploitation of racial prejudice for political gain. We urge you to burn the Confederate flag, a long-time symbol of racial hatred, on Sept 12, the date when the racially-divisive Tea Party holds its annual hate fest."

Better yet, given the section of the Tea Party that's been demanding that everybody show support for "free speech" by posting nasty drawings of Muhammad, let's demand that they also show their support for "free speech" and burn one themselves.
We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
