Welcome the Pastors for Peace Cuba Caravan to to San Jose!
Hear from the Caravanistas and watch the new documentary film "People to People." Enjoy a potluck dinner, Cuban dessert and recorded Cuban music!
By traveling to Cuba with humanitarian aid and without a U.S. government license, Pastors for Peace challenges the U.S. economic blockade against Cuba.
Film: Directed by Consuelo Elba, the new film "People to People" mixes archival footage with video from the 2008 Pastors for Peace Caravan to Cuba and recent interviews to tell the story of Pastors for Peace and the Latin American School of Medicine in Havana, Cuba. "People to People" was co-produced in Cuba by ICAIC (the Cuban Institute of Art and Film) and the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP).
Featured Speaker: Richard Becker is the Western Regional Coordinator of the International A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition. In 1992, Becker helped to initiate the International Peace for Cuba Appeal (IPCA), which launched an international campaign to end the U.S. blockade of Cuba and normalize relations between the two countries. IPCA has organized many demonstrations, forums and other activities calling for an end to U.S. hostility toward Cuba, and has sent more than $5 million in medical aid to the island nation. Since its beginning in 1992, Becker has been active in the U.S.-Cuba Friendshipment Caravans organized by Pastors for Peace.
Please consider bringing an item for the potluck dinner.
This event is a fundraiser for the Cuba Caravan. Donations appreciated.
