Flashpoint Gaza: Who Started It?
The Israeli military assault on a flotilla of humanitarian aid ships in international waters, killing 9 unarmed activists, has set off a firestorm of global protest. Human rights activists have vowed to send more and larger aid flotillas in the coming months, while Israel has reaffirmed its intent to enforce the blockade.
What are the roots of this conflict and how can peace be achieved?
Talk by Sharat G. Lin, President of the San Jose Peace and Justice Center. Sharat writes on global political economy, the Middle East, India, labor migration and public health. He is a contributing author to the book Studies in Inequality and Social Justice (2009) and one of the original signers of the Cairo Declaration, Jan. 1, 2010, launching a global BDS campaign against Israeli apartheid.
Potluck dinner - 6 pm
Program - 7 pm
All welcome to attend.
