Background:

On May 31, 2010, the Israeli Navy attacked unarmed ships carrying humanitarian aid to the 1.5 million people in Gaza whose sea, land and air access is blockaded by Israel. At least 9 international human rights activists were killed by heavily armed Israeli soldiers and several were wounded. The same day, Israeli soldiers shot a tear gas canister into the face of a non-violent demonstrator near Jerusalem. This attack caused the young woman, a 21-year old Jewish-American, to lose her eye.

On an almost-daily basis, Israel shoots Gaza farmers and fisherman who are trying to feed their families; Israel routinely invades West Bank villages and abducts youth and adults whom it tortures and imprisons. Israel continues its colonization of the West Bank, stealing Palestinian land for illegal settlements.

U.S. taxpayers send approximately $7 million a day to fund Israel’s violation of human rights and flaunting of international law.

Take Action:

1) Contact President Obama to condemn and sanction Israel for attacking the humanitarian aid boats and killing unarmed human rights activists. White House: 202-456-1111.

2) Also contact your Congressional representatives and senators: http://www.house.gov; http://www.senate.gov or call 202-224-3121.

3) Demand that U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Susan Rice vote to support a UN Security Council resolution condemning Israel's action and initiating an investigation; call 212-415-4062.
