Last week the M.O.R.E. Coalition held its first public action on the steps of City Hall. The broad Coalition showed the strength unity can have when facing strong attacks by the media, politicians, and the Mayor who all want to solve the economic crisis of MUNI and the City on the backs of low-income and working families, youth, seniors, and the disabled. We now take the fight to the Board of Supervisors.

Unlike the Mayor’s puppets on the MTA Board who voted to dismantle MUNI, the Board of Supervisors can vote to stop all the cuts and hikes by rejecting the proposed MTA budget.

The Mayor and his puppets are bitterly opposed to the rejection and are trying to put the blame on the Drivers, but not once have they mentioned the costly work orders charged by various City departments that amount to over $60 million! They claim there is no money, but instead of taking from those who have benefited the most from this crisis, the rich and their corporate institutions, they target poor and low-income communities of color through the terrorizing practice known as “saturation enforcement.” Being poor is not a crime, MUNI should be a right and accessible to all!
