San Francisco's longest running spoken word variety show takes your brain by storm!

What: WRITERS WITH DRINKS
Featuring: Molly Gloss, Karen Tei Yamashita, Nic Alea, Shazam and Loren Kraut
Location: The Make Out Room, 3225 22nd. St. between Mission and Valencia, San Francisco
Admission: $5 to $10 sliding scale, all proceeds benefit the CSC
About the readers/performers:
Molly Gloss' novels include The Hearts Of Horses, Wild Life, The Dazzle Of Day, The Jump-Off Creek and Outside The Gates. She's twice been a finalist for the Oregon Book Award. And The Jump-Off Creek was a finalist for the PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction and won both the 1990 Ken Kesey Award for the Novel and 1990 Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association Award.
Karen Tei Yamashita's latest book is I Hotel. She's the author of the novels Circle K Cycles, Tropic of Orange, Brazil-Maru, and Through the Arc of the Rain Forest. She's also written a number of plays, including Hannah Kusoh, Noh Bozos and O-Men.
Nic Alea's poems have appeared in Dope Magazine and the 16th. and Mission Review. Alea's featured at Quiet Lightning and the New Sensationist Reading Series.
Shazam blogs at Random Rim Jobs, and she's appeared at the Bawdy storytelling series. She has a column as the SF Sex and Relationships Examiner, and reviews sex toys for Carnal Nation.
Loren Kraut recently appeared at OCD and ADD Comedy: An Exotic/Neurotic Show. The SF Weekly wrote, "Perhaps people who self-identify as "normal" don't get Kraut's brand of humor, but we sure do."

Writers With Drinks has won "Best Literary Night" from the SF Bay Guardian readers' poll five years in a row and was named "Best Literary Drinking" by the SF Weekly. The spoken word "variety show" mixes genres to raise money for local worthy causes. The award-winning show includes poetry, stand-up comedy, science fiction, fantasy, romance, mystery, literary fiction, erotica, memoir, zines and blogs in a freewheeling format.
Hostess Charlie Jane Anders blogs about science fiction and futurism at io9.com. She's the author of the Lambda Award-winning Choir Boy (2005 Soft Skull Press) and the co-editor, with Annalee Newitz, of She's Such A Geek (Seal Press 2007).
