Behind the Rainbow documents the evolution of South Africa’s African National Congress (ANC) from liberation movement to ruling party. With the 2009 presidential election as backdrop, award-winning filmmaker Jihan El-Tahri explores divisions in ideology and economic policy since Nelson Mandela’s release from prison in 1992 and what it will take to achieve racial equality and revolutionary change. Discussion to follow.

The event takes place on Sunday, May 16, 1:00pm at New Valencia Hall, 625 Larkin Street #202, San Francisco (near Civic Center BART/Muni).

Door donation $2.00. Hearty lunch buffet available at 12:15pm for $8 donation. Work exchanges and sliding scale available. Wheelchair accessible.
