May 1st, International Workers Day, in-home caregivers, along with care recipients, and community allies hold a community meeting to strategize a defense for life-line services at the Resource Center for Nonviolence in Santa Cruz.
The Governor of California has proposed cuts to in-home care that would result in over 2,000 Santa Cruz County seniors and disabled losing care, and over 1,700 caregivers losing their jobs.
Under the proposed cuts, 87% of low income seniors and disable citizens would lose the only care they recieve in live safely at home. This will move California in the wrong direction financially, and cause a detioration in the health and safety of seniors and people with disabilities.
Stand with working families and defend In Homecare Support Services for low-income seniors and the disabled. Join us to create a Santa Cruz strategy to defend life line services.
