OPENING RECEPTION WITH ARTIST: Friday, May 7, 5:30–9pm (First Friday).
Show dates: May 7–June 6, 2010.
ROBBIE CONAL: Not Your Typical Political Animal, an exhibition of original paintings, drawings and limited edition prints by the Los Angeles-based painter/urban poster artist/political & social satirist Robbie Conal. “America’s foremost street artist” (The Washington Post) will show another side of himself... the warm and fuzzy side.
The A.L. Walters Gallery presents a selection of Conal’s kitten, bunny and other animal-inspired art—he calls it his personal form of "karmic relief." While some of the pieces are undeniably cute, others are related to Conal’s more famous and more political work, such as his drawings of politicians and their pets looking uncannily alike. The artist will be present at the opening reception on May 7. Don’t miss one of the most important art events of the year in Santa Cruz! Contact: (831) 475-8475.
