Save Berkeley's Public Housing Program

The Berkeley Housing Authority (BHA) has been infiltrated by some slick high priced consultants from the EJP Consulting Group and ICF International, in an effort to terminate Berkeley's public housing program.

As a result, tens of thousands of dollars of our precious resources that were meant to assist the needy, have instead been siphoned away and dumped into the pockets of the greedy consultants - a tragic corrupt situation.

The community is being urged to speak out against the scheme to terminate Berkeley's public housing program, and the plan to sell Berkeley's 75 public housing units, resulting in the displacement Berkeley's poor.

The developers interested in buying Berkeley's public housing units, are not interested in having the units occupied when taking control.

Around 209 people or more will face the risk of losing their housing as a result!

On Friday April 23, from 8:15am till 11:30am, join the struggle to save Berkeley's public housing program and say NO to Agenda Items A and B of the Action Calendar.

Speak out, and say NO against Agenda Items A & B, of the Action Calendar!

II. Action Calendar from LIPH Feasibility Committee

Say NO on Item A)
A. Consideration of a resolution confirming the preferred disposition option is to a third party developer, independent of the Berkeley Housing Authority, with the following two provisions: (i) that all units remain affordable rental units and (ii) all of the units remain 3 or 4 bedroom units.

Say No on Item B)
B. Consideration of a resolution authorizing the Executive Director, working with the LIPH Feasibility Committee, to take the next steps to implement the preferred option, including developing and issuing a Request for Proposals for a third-party developer, and executing an appropriate contract with the Relocation Consultant.

Try to be there by 8:15am to sign up as a speaker and say NO to Agenda Items A & B on the Action Calendar!
