Protest Racism and Militarism at home and abroad!
Budget cuts to education and public services are building a wall that threatens to deny people of color and working class people access to higher education in California.
At the same time the US Government, California Corporations, the CSU Trustees and SF State University profit off investments and diverts public spending into war and the Israeli economy.
Please join us to say no to Israeli apartheid, and connect the Palestinian Liberation Movement, Anti-war movement, and CA campus movements for economic and racial justice.
We are having a SILENT counter-protest to an event (the birthday celebration of Israel) that is to occur on the same day at SF State. This is NOT an anti-semitic event. It is protesting the radical zionism. We are protesting the racism, budget cuts and wars as they are all connected. Please wear black or dark colors! We will have some face covers (white masks/ face paint) but if you to bring your own, thats fine!
This counter-protest is to the US prioritizing providing military aid and spending to Israel and the "wars" instead of providing the aid at home to the working class and lower class people and the people of color. Why are we allowing the US to cut spending from health, education, social services and jobs so that they can fund their wars and allies committing inhumane acts.
The US has been pumping trillions of dollars into the wars and conflicts for many decades. The US spends $50,000 per SECOND on war while only spending $3000 per YEAR. Last years cuts to public education created a metaphorical wall between 40,000 prospective students and their university education in the CSU system due to cuts to enrollment. Budget cuts are disproportionately impacting working class people and people of color. Why are we allowing our govt to use our money to fund the racism, war, killings of innocent people while ignoring our own country. Israel is receives more attention and aid than own lower classes, schools and so on.
According to the Congressional Research, "Israel is the largest cumulative recipient of US foreign assistance, having been supplanted by Iraq. Since 1985, the US has provided nearly $3 billion in grants annually to Israel. Almost all US bilateral aid to Israel is in the form of military assistance." Since 1974, Israel has received nearly $100 billion in assistance, including three special aid packages.
