Haiti Benefit
Jose Neto
Artwork from San Quentin
I have been thinking a lot about the situation in Haiti and the grace of the men who, despite a lot of difficulties feel compelled and want to do what they can to help the Haitians. I feel honored to have been asked to help them by doing the Benefit on Saturday. Having Jose Neto there is a gift. I just finished a book about Dr. Paul Farmer called "Mountains beyond Mountains" by Tracy Kidder. The devotion of Dr. Paul Farmer is inspirational. It made me realize again that one person with the right intention can make a huge change. Farmer has been working in Haiti for the last 20 plus years. He has built hospitals and clinics and helped thousands of Haitians with TB and AIDS. I hope those of you who can will share this Saturday evening with Jose and me and the men of San Quentin who devoted their art work and writings for this event. It means the world to them.
