‘Being Artist. Being Aware. Being Arab-American.’ + A Study in Seeing
with Happy/L.A. Hyder

Drawing on the concept of home, Happy/L.A. Hyder weaves family history with her artistic vision, presenting her art-workings from the early 70s through today. Hyder is a fine artist in color photography, mixed-media & installation, writer, performer, and activist. She is the founder & director of LVA : Lesbians in the Visual Arts (1990 – 2003); present member of the SF Dyke March organizing committee; and member of the advisory board of Aorta Radical Art Magazine. ‘Being Artist…’ was first presented at the Arab American National Museum, Dearborn MI.

A Study in Seeing:
Participants are invited to bring digital cameras and will be sent into the streets to photograph a finite number of images, using Hyder’s instructions, then return to share their findings. Please make sure your memory card is blank, to make downloading easier.

$10-20 sliding scale, no one turned away for lack of funds. For more information, please call 415-864-1278 or email baradicalwomen [at] earthlink.net
