Portland Anti-Police General Assembly, Friday April 9th!
This Friday, April 9th at 5 PM, we are calling for a general assembly to meet at NW Everett and 13th (the intersection where James Chasse was fatally beaten by the police two years ago) to begin discussing a response to these armed gangs of police. Bring your experience, your ideas, your neighbors, and your open ears. Come prepared to listen, to speak, and to act.
In the past two months, the Portland Police murdered two men in the midst of mental health crises. Aaron Campbell and Jack Dale Collins join the growing roster of those who did not have to die, those murdered by the police and the lack of mental health services in our communities. Those who deserve services are given bullets and beatings instead, and the police continue to act with impunity. The police exist to enforce inequalities in our society. They protect the property of the wealthy, not the safety of our communities. From breaking strikes to enforcing segregation, from working with the KKK to violently repressing dissent, the police have always been on the wrong side of struggles for justice. This Friday, we say enough is enough! It is time to begin building alternatives to the police within our communities, and to drive the police out. It is time to begin speaking with each other, to share our ideas and experiences, to meet each other so that we can drive the police out and satisfy the needs of our communities. Therefore, this Friday, April 9th at 5 PM, we are calling for a general assembly to meet at NW Everett and 13th (the intersection where James Chasse was fatally beaten by the police two years ago) to begin discussing a response to these armed gangs. Bring your experience, your ideas, your neighbors, and your open ears. Come prepared to listen, to speak, and to act. April 9th @ 5 PM NW 13th & Everett
