Writers With Drinks celebrates its ninth anniversary with its most mixed up variety show of all!
When: Saturday, April 10, 2010, 7:30 to 9:30 PM, doors open at 6:30 PM
Who: Pia Z. Ehrhardt, La Chica Boom, Michelle Gagnon, Tessie Chua, DW Lichtenberg and Diane Lefer!
Where: The Make Out Room, 3225 22nd. St. between Mission and Valencia, San Francisco How much: $5 to $10 sliding scale, all proceeds benefit the CSC
About the readers/performers:
Pia Z. Ehrhardt is the author of Famous Fathers & Other Stories. Her stories have appeared in McSweeney's, Norton's 2006 Sudden Fiction Anthology, and Narrative Magazine. She is the recipient of the 2005 Narrative Prize.
Diane Lefer is a writer and human rights activist. She's the author of California Transit: Stories, winner of the Mary McCarthy prize, plus the story collections Very Much Like Desire and The Circles I Move In, and the novel Radiant Hunger. She's also the author of The Blessing Next To The Wound: A Story of Art, Activism, and Transformation.
Xandra Ibarra is a community organizer and facilitator, who performs in burlesque shows as La Chica Boom, who was crowned Ms. Gay Latina 2005 and was on the cover of the award-winning multicultural publication Colors NW.
Michelle Gagnon is the author of The Gatekeeper, Boneyard and The Tunnels. She also has a story in the anthology Fresh Kills.
Tessie Chua has performed at comedy clubs across the country, and shared the stage with Robin Williams, Robert Schimmel, Brian Copeland and Tom Rhodes.
DW Lichtenberg wrote the poetry book The Ancient Book Of Hip. He received a BFA in Film from NYU, and was associate editor on the feature film Fifth Form and camera operator on the documentary Fool In A Bubble.

Writers With Drinks has won "Best Literary Night" from the SF Bay Guardian readers' poll five years in a row and was named "Best Literary Drinking" by the SF Weekly. The spoken word "variety show" mixes genres to raise money for local worthy causes. The award-winning show includes poetry, stand-up comedy, science fiction, fantasy, romance, mystery, literary fiction, erotica, memoir, zines and blogs in a freewheeling format.
Hostess Charlie Jane Anders blogs about science fiction and futurism at io9.com. She's the author of the Lambda Award-winning Choir Boy (2005 Soft Skull Press) and the co-editor, with Annalee Newitz, of She's Such A Geek (Seal Press 2007).
