Sacramento State Symposium on GLBT Culture & Politics

On Thursday, April 29th, the PRIDE Center at Sacramento State will be sponsoring an all-day symposium on GLBT Culture & Politics. The event will last from 9:00am to approximately 4:00pm, and will take place in the Hinde Auditorium in the Student Union. There will be 10 speakers throughout the day, including professors from several northern California colleges and representatives from several GLBT organizations (such as Marriage Equality USA, Stonewall Democrats, and Log Cabin Republicans). Topics to be discussed include heteronormativity, gender roles, same-sex relationships, the marginalization of gays/lesbians and same-sex couples, GLBT history, the Prop 8 campaign, the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy, and gays/lesbians participating in politics and activism.
