Distinguished Mexican poet, novelist, and enviromentalist, Homero Aridjis will be making an appearance at City Lights Books on Tuesday, April 6th at 7:00 pm in celebration of his new poetry collection, Solar Poems. On this very special occasion, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, poet and founder of City Lights Books, will read several poems from the bilingual edition of his book, WHAT IS POETRY?/¿QUÉ ES LA POESÍA?, which Homero Aridjis translated.
Solar Poems is the first English translation of a single volume of poems by Homero Aridjis. Reflecting his ecological concerns and a mystical relationship with the sun, Aridjis’s poems range from the blackly humorous to the poignant, transcending the boundary between life and death as he explores his own past and Mexico’s natural and cultural heritage.
